To create a truly showstopping, 360-degree piece of furniture, the bespoke designs are seamlessly incorporated across multiple areas of the chair, including the seat, the front and reverse of the backrest, and even the underneath.

What materials are used to make the chairs?

Our chairs are expertly crafted to radiate luxury. The sturdy frame and elegant tapered legs are constructed from responsibly sourced beech wood. For the upholstery, we use fire-rated ChiChi Furnishing Velour fabric, which is incredibly soft, smooth, and luxurious to the touch.

Will the vibrant print fade, scratch, or peel over time?

Not at all. We use a specialist dye sublimation printing process that fuses the ink deep into the fibres of the ChiChi Velour fabric. This ensures the artwork remains vibrant and long-lasting, and guarantees the print won't scratch, rub off, or peel away, no matter how much the chair is used.

Are the chairs comfortable to sit in?

Absolutely. The chairs feature plump cushioning made from high-quality firm foam, wadding, and webbing. Additionally, the design incorporates slightly shorter back legs, creating the perfect angled seat for you to kick back, relax, and enjoy.

How do I clean and care for my chair?

To keep your chair looking its absolute best, we recommend surface wiping only. Simply clean the fabric gently by hand using a damp cloth and mild soapy water.

Where are the chairs manufactured?

We are proud to say that every chair is made to order and expertly handmade right here in the UK. Once the exclusive artwork is printed onto the fabric, it is cut to size, hand-stitched, and carefully assembled by upholstery professionals to ensure a flawless finish.

We select only the finest materials to bring our designs to life. You can choose between two premium finishes: our breathable, 100% natural Cotton-Linen for a classic, ultra-comfortable feel, or our luxurious Soft Velvet, which is incredibly smooth and strokeable.

What type of filling is used?

To ensure the ultimate lounging experience, you can tailor the comfort to your preference. Choose between a sumptuous duck feather insert or a super-soft, plump poly-fibre padding. Both options provide exceptional comfort and shape retention.

What are the finishing details on the cushions?

We believe in exquisite craftsmanship down to the last detail. Every single cushion in our collection is beautifully framed with a 3mm-wide strip of coloured satin piping—specifically chosen to accent the artwork—and features a hidden zip complete with a chic square puller.

What sizes and shapes are available?

Our collection includes a variety of sizes to perfectly fit your sofas, beds, or window displays. You can choose from classic square cushions or elegant rectangular shapes to perfectly suit your space.

Will the vibrant artwork fade or wash out?

Not at all. We use advanced, high-definition printing techniques—including specialist dye sublimation for our Soft Velvet and eco-friendly pigment printing for our Cotton-Linen. These processes bind the ink deep into the fibres, ensuring the colours remain brilliant and won't fade over time.

How do I care for my designer cushion?

The covers are fully removable and easy to care for. Simply machine wash at 30°C. We recommend hanging them to dry (or you can tumble dry on a low heat). Please do not wring the fabric, and iron only on a low heat setting if necessary.

How much does shipping cost?

We are delighted to offer complimentary free shipping on all PAUSE. orders worldwide, with no minimum spend required.

How long does it take to craft my bespoke order?

Because every PAUSE. product is exclusively made to order by expert UK artisans, please allow 2–3 working days for your items to be produced. This applies to both UK and international orders.

When can I expect my order to arrive?

Once your bespoke piece has been crafted and dispatched from our workshop, estimated delivery timeframes are as follows:

  • United Kingdom: 1–3 working days
  • Europe: 2–5 working days
  • United States: 2–5 working days
  • UAE & Rest of World: 2–5 working days

(Please note: Delivery timeframes are estimates and may occasionally vary due to customs processing, carrier delays, or other factors outside of our control.)

Will I be able to track my delivery?

Yes. For your peace of mind, all PAUSE. orders are dispatched using a secure, tracked service. As soon as your order has been dispatched, you will receive an email confirmation containing your tracking information.

Will I be charged customs or import duties?

For international orders shipped outside of the UK, customs duties and import taxes may apply depending on your country's specific regulations. These charges are the sole responsibility of the customer. Because customs policies vary widely from country to country, we recommend contacting your local customs office for more information before placing your order.

What should I do if my order is lost or arrives damaged?

We take great pride in our craftsmanship and packaging, but if your order is lost in transit or arrives damaged, please contact us at studio@bypause.co.uk within 14 days of your expected delivery date. Please include your order number and, where applicable, clear photographs of any damage so we can resolve the issue swiftly for you.

Returns & Refunds - FAQs

Can I return an item if I change my mind?

Because every PAUSE. product is exclusively made to order by our UK artisans, we do not hold any stock. Each piece is produced individually from scratch just for you. For this reason, we cannot accept returns or offer refunds for non-faulty goods or a change of mind. If you have any questions about colour, scale, fabric, or dimensions before placing your order, please email us at studio@bypause.co.uk —we would be delighted to help you make the perfect choice.

Can I cancel my order once it has been placed?

Because our pieces are made to order, production begins just 30 minutes after your order is placed.

  • Within 30 minutes: If you contact us at studio@bypause.co.uk within 30 minutes of placing your order, you can cancel it for a full refund.
  • After 30 minutes: Production will have already started. If you need to cancel after this point, we will issue a credit note for the value of your order, minus a 20% cancellation fee to cover the bespoke materials and artisan labour already committed. Your credit note will be valid for 12 months and can be used on any PAUSE. product.
What happens if my item arrives damaged or faulty?

We pride ourselves on exquisite craftsmanship, and all PAUSE. furniture carries a 10-year guarantee on build, print, and finish. However, if your product arrives faulty or damaged, please notify us within 14 days of delivery by emailing studio@bypause.co.uk. Please include your order number, a clear description of the fault, and photographs. We will assess the issue and, where a manufacturing fault is confirmed, we will arrange a repair, replacement, or full refund. Please do not return any product to us without contacting us first.

How should I package an item for return?

To ensure a smooth return process, please hold onto the original packaging your order arrives in. Items must be returned unused and in their original condition, including all labels, dust bags, and accessories. Products must be carefully repackaged to ensure adequate protection during transit. (Please note: For hygiene purposes, cushion covers must remain unwashed and the packaging seal must remain unopened, unless a fault is identified after opening).

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

This depends on your location and the nature of the return:

  • UK Customers: If an item is confirmed as faulty, we will cover the cost of return postage. For any non-faulty cancellations where a return is required, the return postage is at the customer's expense.
  • International Customers: You are welcome to return items to our UK returns address (which will be sent to you once a return is confirmed), but return postage for international orders is at the customer's expense, even in the event of a fault. We highly recommend using a tracked and insured service, as we cannot be responsible for items lost or damaged in return transit.
How long do refunds or credit notes take to process?
  • Refunds (for faulty items or cancellations made within 30 minutes) are issued to your original payment method within 14 days. Please allow up to 5 additional working days for the funds to appear in your account, depending on your bank.
  • Credit Notes (for cancellations made after 30 minutes) are issued via email within 5 working days. They are valid for 12 months and can be applied at checkout on any PAUSE. product.
